  • Evaluation September/October 2025

Another two months gone by like the wind, another evaluation time πŸ˜€ Let’s have a look at what happened, how it went and what’s next.

First, a rhyming snail joined as an irregular contributor bringing with them their own set of creative delights.
Sounds like I’m handing out sweets πŸ˜„ Another limerick, anybody?

Second, due to my study course I changed my publishing routine to Sunday through Thursday. Despite all the assignments and work for my master’s thesis this arrangement works quite well, so I will uphold it for now.

Third, I’m content with the headings of my weekly reviews, so I will keep them for now as well. At least once a week they help me to look back and reflect on what surrounds me and where I can get support if needed. And yes, they also show what isn’t so great and where potential for improvement lies. Sometimes this is in my sphere of influence, sometimes it is part of the environment.

In a nutshell, Sundays are for improvement, Mondays through Thursdays are for creativity and a rhyming snail every other day. Sounds like fun, so let’s keep it up for the next two months till the end of December 2025 and then evaluate again πŸ˜„

  • Review week 44/2025

    Grateful

    • I’m thankful for all the support I got while I was finishing my master’s thesis research proposal.

    Failure

    • That there is no way to get my reMarkable device to connect with my Zotero account or even an easy way to import all my annotations from my reMarkable into my Zotero library.

    Take Away/Doing Next

    • Instead of reading articles for my study program on my reMarkable I’m switching to my phone where I can use the Zotero app for Android. This way I already have my annotations where I need them for continued work.

  • beaded Halloween inspirations

At the beginning of my beading journey I tried out and experimented with different techniques. One of them is called peyote stitch and can be used to bead flat and three-dimensional objects. These one were inspired by Halloween and the often featured carved pumpkins or jack-o’-lanterns.

  • illuminating Jack

    pumpkins and turnips
    where the blaze
    did the light go?

    without Jack
    it's pitch black

    ah, here you are
    I found you at last

now I can be on my way
and roam the land forever more

  • Review week 43/2025

    Grateful

    • To have persons in my life who understand the difficulties I’m dealing with on a daily basis and support me each in their own way.

    Failure

    • In the office I got again misgendered by a colleague whom I yet again corrected. Instead of apologising they started laughing and continued the misgendering.

    Take Away/Doing Next

    • I will continue standing up for myself and correct misgendering, especially in environments I plan to or have to stay in for a longer period of time.
    • Looking to become part of an environment in which my gender is acknowledged and accepted.
  • beaded ace hippocampus

Some time ago I found this incredible beaded hippocampus pattern and I knew I needed one. Well, actually at the time of this post I already made three 😁

Today I’ll show you one of them, my ace hippocampus, inspired by the colours from the asexuality pride flag.

    Asexual flag, designed in 2010

    black: asexuality
    grey: grey-asexuality and demisexuality
    white: non-asexual partners and allies
    purple: community

Since a hippocampus is a mixture of a horse with a fish’s tail, I chose beads that most resembled the texture of these two parts. The beads for the mane are black opaque matte while the coat is grey colour lined, also with a matted finish. The fish tail is white opaque with a lustered finish which makes the beads extra shiny, while the fins are purple transparent with silver lining.
